Gloria Cunningham Gloria Cunningham grew up in Naknek, Alaska where she learned skin sewing and beadwork from her mother. She creates stunning fur apparel, beadwork,and hand crafted dolls and bears. Her work is well-known by artisans and collectors throughout the state of Alaska. Gloria shares her expertise in Ilanka craft workshops, where she teaches a variety of skin sewing classes. March 2008 INAC Event - Members of Ilanka Native Artists Consortium will share a craft table at Alaska Native Arts Market during the 2008 Fur Rendez-Vous. Dimond Center, Anchorage, Alaska 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. February 27 - March 2. Alaska Cultural Host training - The Division of Tourism hosts this free 2-day training. Visitor industry employees will be briefed on the cultures, beliefs, and oral traditions of Alaska’s indigenous peoples. Help your staff learn how to effectively tell visitors about Alaska’s Native peoples. (Specific date to be announced.) May Tatitlek Cultural Week - Students from across Prince William Sound spend one week in Tatitlek learning about culture, art, food, and dance of the Alutiiq people. May 5 - 10. July Ilanka Membership Drive - Join the Ilanka Cultural Center. Help promote Native arts, preserve culture and history. Great benefits! Runs entire month of July. November Sobriety Celebration - A weekend of cultural events and activities. Potlatch, live music, dance, craft sales. November 14, 15, & 16 . |
